MoveSouq.com is a Dubai-based online home services marketplace that connects UAE inhabitants to the home service providers that include maintenance companies, while Imdaad is famous for its Integrated Facilities and Waste Management solutions all through the GCC region.

MoveSouq.com in collaboration with Imdaad conducted an online survey so as to discover residential buildings quality in Dubai. Also, the survey was run to learn about maintenance issues into lives of Dubai residents in the past 6 months.

According to this survey, conducted with 150 Dubai residents, 83% had at least one maintenance problem in their homes during the first half of 2015. On average, they encountered two maintenance issues.

Also, about 50% of the households, 40% of dwellers of various apartments, and 70% of villa dwellers have experienced AC related problems. By far, badly-behaved air conditioners are leading to the biggest maintenance issues in Dubai homes.

20% of the survey respondents complained about sewage, electrical and thin walls problems plus defective water heaters. 24% Villas inhabitants whined about another grave complication and that’s bursting water pipes.

Jamal Lootah, CEO, Imdaad said, “The results of this survey gives us a better understanding of the maintenance requirements of homeowners in the UAE, which range from basic AC issues to plumbing needs. Commissioning the survey demonstrates our strategic commitment to know more about these home maintenance needs and leveraging our diverse range of FM services to help address these challenges. This survey will serve as a key reference in our move to develop and improve our services for the country’s growing number of homeowners.”

Furthermore, the survey results also showed that less than 60% of residents approached professional maintenance companies in Dubai to help them out. Rest of the survey respondents either tried to fix the issue themselves or just left it anyway. Moreover, the survey disclosed that 40% of residents have to fully cover home maintenance expenses. While, nearly 50% stated that their landlords cover these costs, whereas 10% tenants have to equally share the maintenance expenditure with their landlords.
