In the globalized world of visual arts, contemporary paintings from the former Soviet Central Asian republics become a new attraction for art enthusiasts as well as the collectors.

Askhat Akhmediyarov, one of the inspiring figures from Kazakhstan’s vibrant, modern art scene is all set to make his debut in Dubai. Andakulova Gallery will host Akhmediyarov’s solo-exhibit (September 19th – December 7th, 2016).

Malus Sieversii Solo Show is named after the wild apples that provided the former capital of Kazakhstan its name: ‘Almaty’ or ‘Fatherland of Apples’.

Akhmediyarov with his exceptional artistic vision, interjects his multi-faceted personal, Kazakh identity into his work. His evocative, and metaphorically charged imagery investigates numerous matters his country caught between two worlds.

Curated by Irina Bourmistrova, a series of new artworks and site-specific installations by Akhmediyarov will be presented at the show. Most of the Akhmediyarov’s work is the fusion of traditional symbols of his native soil to show Kazakhstan in transition.

Date:  19th Sep to 7th Dec, 2016

Time: 7 -10 PM

Venue: Andakulova Galler, Unit 18, P4 Level, Damac Park Towers, DIFC. Dubai
